Rj Luis Jr 2023-2024 season highlights - St. John's
What Rick Pitino says about Rj Luis Jr.
Rick Pitino has been high on the potential of Rj Luis Jr ever since Luis transferred into St. John’s from UMass ahead of last season.
The Hall of Fame coach believes the 6-foot-7 Miami native has NBA potential, but Luis was hampered by a broken hand at the beginning of last season and then was bothered during the campaign by shin splints in both legs, which required surgery during the offseason.
Now Pitino says he’s expecting a “killer year” from Luis heading into his second season with the Red Storm.
“I’m expecting big things from Rj,” Pitino told NJ Advance Media this week. “He just needed physical maturity. He looks great, improved his shooting and is a wonderful young man.”
